About the Role
You will deliver cost‑management services from inception to completion across various sectors, supporting your discipline with strong technical and functional capabilities while contributing to net‑zero carbon transition and continuous improvement of systems and processes. • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies, contract selection, and produce procurement reports. • Apply value‑management techniques at project outset. • Manage estimating and cost‑planning activities, own and present final cost plan. • Assist in procurement and selection of the main contractor. • Prepare contract documents, warranties, bonds, licences and coordinate formal execution. • Advise on administration of building contract terms. • Measure work, provide valuations, and adjust variations per contract terms with contractors. • Deliver cost control and reporting services throughout contract duration. • Prepare regular financial reports for the client. • Identify costs linked to design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges. • Participate in evaluating contractor claims for delay and additional costs. • Advise on issuance of practical completion certificates and negotiate final accounts. • Guide issuance of defect‑completion certificates and ensure compliance with completion requirements. • Drive improvements in systems, processes and transformational change. • Provide guidance, mentoring and informal training to Assistant Cost Consultants and junior team members. • Seek and implement continuous improvements to working processes. • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Manage stakeholder expectations and communication throughout projects. • Support net‑zero carbon transition by identifying and managing associated emissions and reductions.

What You Bring
• Understand sustainability, social value and carbon‑reduction issues and apply them to projects. • Hold a degree in quantity surveying or cost management (or equivalent) and be a member or candidate of MRICS/RICS. • Possess strong knowledge of industry best practice and specific sector/market expertise. • Experience with various forms of construction contracts and contract administration. • Proven cost‑consultancy experience, including cost planning, budgeting and estimating. • Strong analytical, negotiation and problem‑solving skills. • Digitally competent and able to use relevant software tools. • Effective communicator with ability to build relationships with all stakeholders. • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improved working practices. • Good interpersonal skills for report preparation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
