About the Role
The role includes selecting pipe types and sizes, inspecting work sites for obstructions, planning installation sequences, cutting, threading, bending, and mounting pipes and supports, assembling and joining various pipe materials, and securing them with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand and power tools. • Select pipe type, size, and related materials per specifications. • Inspect worksite for obstructions and plan installation sequence. • Cut, thread, and bend pipe using appropriate tools and machines. • Install pipe hangers, brackets, and supports on walls and ceilings. • Assemble and join metal or non‑metal pipes using soldering, brazing, welding, or cemented joints. • Secure pipes with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand and power tools. • Install and maintain refrigeration and HVAC systems, including compressors and controls. • Test piping systems for leaks by pressurizing and monitoring gauges. • Weld pipe supports to structural steel members. • Observe production machines for malfunctions and operate them to verify repairs. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment. • Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing components during installation. • Perform minor cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment. • Follow safety protocols, including respiratory protection, and adhere to project rules. • Apply precise measurements, shop mathematics, and dimensional visualization to tasks. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria and select proper tools for work. • Work safely at heights and compare dimensions to plans.

What You Bring
The Certified Journeyman position requires attainment of NCCER certifications and involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and production processing systems. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant field experience, knowledge of common industry practices, and the ability to work under immediate supervision while applying precise measurements, shop mathematics, and three‑dimensional visualization to tasks. Physical requirements involve standing, walking, and occasional sitting, lifting and carrying up to 50 lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and frequent reaching, handling, and fingering tasks as indicated by the provided symbols.
