About the Role
The lifeguard will oversee safety across the pool, lake, deck, beach areas, and water slide, contributing to the overall Discovery Land Company experience for members and staff. Key duties include monitoring aquatic activity, maintaining a clean and organized environment, setting up and breaking down equipment, and promptly reporting any safety or maintenance concerns to the Director of Outdoor Pursuits. • Survey pool and lake areas to ensure member and guest safety • Maintain organized appearance of aquatic zones throughout the day • Set up and break down all activities and equipment daily • Report safety or maintenance concerns immediately to the Director of Outdoor Pursuits • Enforce pool and lake rules and regulations • Provide risk management for aquatic areas • Perform first aid treatments when necessary • Attend required meetings and trainings

What You Bring
The Seasonal Part‑Time Lifeguard position is located at Silo Ridge Field Club in Amenia, New York, and runs from May 18 to September 28, 2026. A current lifeguard certification is required for this role. Candidates should have strong communication skills, a positive and professional demeanor, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, while meeting the physical demands of standing, walking, and lifting up to fifty pounds in various weather conditions. • Obtain Ellis certification for pool and dark water conditions, including CPR/AED/First Aid • Current lifeguard certification (Ellis preferred) required • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required • Minimum two years experience in an aquatic environment preferred • Ability to follow oral and written directions in English; additional languages a plus • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong communication skills • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays; ability to work long hours • Ability to work effectively in a team and stay calm under pressure • Meet physical demands: stand, walk, lift 50+ lbs, work in all weather conditions for 8+ hours • Flexibility to adapt to new projects in a fast‑paced environment
