Design and coordinate roadway/transit projects using CAD in a hybrid Toronto/Ottawa role.

About the Role
• Work with clients and attend meetings. • Coordinate in a multi‑disciplinary, collaborative team environment. • Contribute to planning, preliminary design, and detailed design for infrastructure projects. • Prepare detailed engineering drawings (plans, profiles, sections, and details) ranging from limited to high complexity. • Apply engineering principles and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards. • Produce 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or MicroStation & InRoads. • Gather and record information for cost estimating. • Prepare project specifications. • Conduct site inspections and investigations during design development. • Provide technical writing input for proposals, feasibility studies, design criteria, and reports. • Interface and manage civil engineering sub‑disciplines such as drainage, traffic, geotechnical, survey, and others.

What You Bring
GFT is seeking a Civil Designer/Engineer to join our Transportation team in either Toronto or Ottawa, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto or our Ottawa office. We are looking for a self‑starter who will work with a highly functioning, entrepreneurial, autonomous team and be responsible for providing design and multidisciplinary coordination for a variety of projects and clients, including the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, Metrolinx, and various municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area/Ottawa Area. In this role you will have the opportunity to grow and enhance your transportation engineering design skills and take on significant responsibility for delivering exciting work. • Experience with Bentley MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads. • Experience with AutoCAD & Civil 3D. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Knowledge of current trends and technologies in transportation engineering. • Methodical approach to problem solving. • Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
