About the Role

The role carries out a wide range of manual tasks on construction sites, including moving and retrieving equipment, digging, and providing fire‑safety standby as directed by supervisors or journeymen. The employee will also climb onto structures and scaffolding, operate rigging and hoisting devices, and perform preventative maintenance such as lubrication and repair of worn parts. All work is performed under the guidance of a supervisor. • Perform manual tasks like moving, digging, and retrieving equipment per supervisor instructions. • Standby for fire safety and operate fire extinguishers when needed. • Climb onto structures and scaffolding to access work areas. • Use rigging and hoisting equipment (chokers, chain falls, come‑alongs) to position materials. • Conduct preventative maintenance, including lubrication and repair of worn parts. • Follow directions from supervisors and journeymen. • Maintain reliable transportation and availability to work any day of the week.

What You Bring

Candidates must be physically capable of meeting the job’s demands and possess experience with industrial hand and power tools. Reliable transportation and the flexibility to work any of the seven days as needed are required. Required skills include basic tool knowledge, strong problem‑solving ability, manual dexterity, reading comprehension, teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to Zachry’s safety values. The position requires extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting of up to 50 lb, as well as work at heights on ladders, stairways, and scaffolding with appropriate fall protection. Employees must operate in all weather conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, high‑visibility vests, gloves, and steel‑toed boots. • Meet all physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lb and working at heights. • Possess experience with industrial hand and power tools. • Demonstrate basic knowledge of tools, problem‑solving ability, manual dexterity, and reading comprehension. • Work effectively as a team player with strong communication skills. • Preferred: prior Zachry employment, basic mechanical knowledge, industrial construction site experience, and formal/technical education. • Wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirator, high‑visibility vest, gloves, steel‑toed boots) in all weather conditions.
