About the Role

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment such as roller tables, gearboxes, descalers, coilers, shears, hydraulic systems, and other critical hot mill systems. • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement effective solutions with minimal downtime. • Conduct daily inspections and complete work orders and documentation with accuracy. • Execute preventative and predictive maintenance tasks per schedule. • Assist with equipment installations, rebuilds, and overhauls. • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. • Participate in pre-job planning, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities. • Collaborate closely with operations, electrical, and engineering teams to maintain optimal mill performance. • Utilize CMMS systems to record maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment history. • Uphold and promote all safety policies, including PPE compliance, lockout/tagout procedures, and stop work authority.

What You Bring

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. • Minimum of 2 years mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Proficiency with mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, drive systems, and alignment techniques. • Basic understanding of welding, cutting, and rigging. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. • Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment (lifting, climbing, standing for long periods). • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. • Prior steel mill experience. • Technical certificate or associate degree in mechanical maintenance, industrial technology, or related field. • Proficiency using CMMS for maintenance tracking.
