About the Role

The designer will lead the creation of electrical system designs for heavy‑industrial facilities such as power plants, chemical complexes, and refineries, producing detailed installation drawings for equipment, panels, wiring, and distribution networks. They will also support project reviews to ensure quality compliance and evaluate design estimates and scopes for new initiatives. The role involves working in a chemical plant environment, requiring exposure to temperature extremes and the use of personal protective equipment such as fire‑retardant clothing and safety gear. Daily activities include office work, meetings, and occasional moderate physical effort like walking to operating areas and carrying light loads. • Design electrical systems and components for heavy‑industrial facilities in power, chemical, or refinery sectors. • Prepare detailed installation drawings for motors, controls, panels, wiring, protective devices, substation and distribution circuits, and cable/tray routing. • Assist with electrical reviews of project packages before RFC to ensure quality procedures are followed. • Review project design estimates and work scopes for new projects. • Mentor designers and team members, providing technical guidance. • Communicate project packages with construction and plant personnel. • Specify vendor instrumentation and interpret vendor manuals. • Apply NEC codes and perform voltage drop, wiring size, and conduit fill calculations. • Create and modify P&I diagrams, loop sheets, single lines, logic and electrical schematics. • Develop scopes of work, task analyses, material lists, and project schedules.

What You Bring

Candidates must possess five to ten years of relevant electrical design experience in the chemical or industrial sector, a solid grasp of NEC codes, and the ability to mentor junior team members. Strong communication skills, familiarity with vendor instrumentation, and expertise in calculations, schematics, and power distribution are essential, as is proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office suite. • 5–10 years of electrical design experience in chemical/industrial environments. • Work with 24 kV to 480 V power distribution, lighting, schematics, cable/raceway sizing, lightning protection, and grounding. • Proficient in 2D MicroStation or AutoCAD. • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related applications.
