About the Role
The role is for a senior dams/reservoir engineer, designer or design manager who will lead conceptual and detailed design of dams, retarding and service basins, and oversee inspection, condition assessment and safety reviews of existing structures. The successful candidate will also manage client relationships, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers across projects of varying size. • Design water dams, retarding basins, and service basins from concept to detailed design. • Inspect, investigate, and assess conditions of existing dams, including monitoring data review. • Conduct safety reviews with multidisciplinary teams. • Liaise with clients and manage multiple projects of varying scales. • Mentor junior engineers. • Prepare design reports, drawings, and specifications.

With a strong pipeline of work in the Australian and New Zealand water business, AECOM is expanding its Dams team in Australia. The practice is ranked number 1 globally in dams and engineering (ENR) and offers exposure to nation‑defining dam projects and a network of specialist expertise worldwide. Positions are available in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth, with full relocation and visa support for suitable candidates. Candidates should have proven experience in dams or reservoir engineering and design, relevant tertiary qualifications and, ideally, CPEng registration. They must be capable of preparing design reports, drawings and specifications, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. A positive mindset that treats challenges as opportunities to innovate, collaborate and grow is essential. • Demonstrated experience in dams or reservoir engineering and design. • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications and CPEng registration (highly regarded). • Produce clear reports and communicate verbally effectively.
