About the Role
The Senior Contract Advisor for Area Public Sector Services prepares, reviews, monitors and maintains municipal contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations. The role also conducts research, prepares reports, and serves as a senior‑level advisor on all contract matters for existing WM customers. Key responsibilities include auditing municipal contracts, resolving non‑compliance issues, and partnering with legal and internal teams to draft, negotiate and manage complex agreements. The incumbent evaluates contracts for renewal or new bid opportunities, investigates disputes, and provides recommendations to management. The position requires developing community partnerships with elected officials and stakeholders, attending public functions, and using media channels to promote WM’s initiatives. Marketing strategies are created to identify retention and growth opportunities, and the role participates in strategic planning for municipal business within the area. The role coordinates team processes by reviewing daily activities, monitoring work, developing contract administration procedures, and training staff. It ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, corporate governance and business integrity standards. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field (or a high school diploma/GED with four years of relevant experience) and a minimum of five years of system and contract management experience. Candidates may need a REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative for travel on federal property, and the role may require occasional air travel for business. • Meet education requirement of a bachelor's degree (or high school + 4 years experience) and at least five years of contract management experience. • Work primarily in an office setting with occasional physical tasks (under 30 lb) and limited exposure to hazards.
