About the Role
The Certified Electrician 2 role involves leading solar electrical installations, mentoring fellow electricians, and expanding knowledge of energy storage and emerging technologies. Employees work closely with branch teams, homeowners, and regulatory inspectors to ensure high‑quality, code‑compliant installations and to support system upgrades and repairs. • Lead installation of electrical systems connecting solar arrays to residential grid power. • Ensure workmanship complies with NEC and local codes. • Complete assigned solar battery installations. • Troubleshoot and resolve system electrical issues. • Safely plan and execute Main Panel Upgrades (MPU). • Coordinate system upgrades/repairs with branch teams and homeowners. • Mentor electricians to improve overall electrical skills. • Train team on Sunrun best practices and prepare them for future roles. • Collaborate with license holders, AHJ inspectors, and crew as electrical subject‑matter expert. • Address recurring quality issues to increase installation pass rate. • Transport materials up to 50 lb frequently (up to 100 lb with assistance). • Work on rooftops, ladders, and at heights, requiring balance and climbing. • Operate in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces. • Perform tasks in diverse outdoor weather conditions. • Wear personal protective equipment including arc‑flash suits and harnesses.

What You Bring
• High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 1 year solar electrical installation/repair experience. • Experience with wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC. • Knowledge of residential service and distribution panel replacement. • Ability to perform Certified Electrician 1 duties. • Valid journeyman/electrician license per local/state requirements. • Clean driving record and ability to pass driving background check. • Age 21+ with a valid driver’s license. • Proven experience mentoring electricians. • Strong safety and customer focus. • Use fine motor skills for hand manipulation and tool use. • Distinguish colors and hear verbal commands.
