About the Role

• Support project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting. • Follow project site signage and supervisor instructions. • Provide progress reports and be receptive to learning about construction management. • Apply academic knowledge to work activities. • Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors. • Participate in training, meetings, and orientation. • Comply with safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE. • Assist Project Engineer, Superintendent, or Manager with start‑up activities. • Collect and review information for shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs. • Prepare and distribute contract‑required information. • Help prepare estimates for subcontractor changes. • Attend site visits to observe and document field activities. • Draft correspondence to architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors. • Communicate job schedules to trades and subcontractors. • Monitor contractor compliance with Turner’s safety program. • Perform quantity take‑offs and studies using traditional or CAD tools. • Request and distribute subcontractor proposals for scope of work. • Assist with project close‑out preparations.

What You Bring

The role provides supervised, hands‑on experience in construction management, including project financials, safety protocols, subcontractor relations, quality control, and overall project coordination. Assignments can be on an active construction site or in a main office, and may count toward academic credit. Interns must be enrolled in an accredited college program such as engineering, architecture, or construction management, be at least 18 years old, and demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The position requires adherence to safety policies, use of personal protective equipment, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and lifting up to 25 lb. • Enrolled in an accredited degree program (Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, etc.) with at least one year completed. • Must be at least 18 years old to work on a construction site. • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, leadership, and community involvement. • Strong verbal and written communication in English. • Able to work independently and in a team with direction. • Exceptional organization and attention to detail. • Physical ability to sit, stand, climb stairs/ladders, lift up to 10 lb regularly and up to 25 lb occasionally. • Ability to work in office and construction site environments, tolerating noise, weather, and safety hazards.

Benefits

The internship is located in Syracuse, NY, within Turner’s New York North division. It is a seasonal, non‑exempt position running from May through August 2026, offering a 40‑hour work week with hourly pay of $21 to $25. Shifts may vary based on project needs.
