About the Role

Power Electronics Engineer – pioneer the next generation of innovation with Rolls‑Royce. You will develop your skills to the highest levels while working in an international environment for a world‑renowned company. The role focuses on research, design, and development of new power products and interfacing power systems for diesel gensets, utility grids, and microgrids. It combines system architecture, control design, and hardware integration to deliver advanced power conversion solutions. • Architect development of power conversion‑based applications and grids, including algorithms and software. • Define technical requirements for selecting power‑electronic manufacturers and steer them through projects. • Develop system sizing and select power‑electronics components such as auxiliary circuits, filters, and transformers. • Design control systems for research and development programs. • Create special customer applications for genset paralleling systems. • Establish systematic testing and validation regimes with corresponding laboratory setups. • Design interfaces between proprietary hardware (ECUs, gen control panels, PLCs, HMIs). • Collaborate directly with controls and governor manufacturers to improve functionality and mitigate issues. • Develop simulation interfaces between electrical and mechanical applications in genset systems. • Analyze voltage regulators, control panels, engine ECUs, PLCs, and protective relays. • Follow standard engineering principles, practices, and ERP procedures per the company’s quality system. • Promote a compliance culture and uphold the Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct.

What You Bring

• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; no visa sponsorship available. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering. • Minimum 5 years of Controls, Electrical, or Automation engineering experience (or 9 years without a degree). • Experience with grid‑tied AC‑DC and DC‑DC power converters. • Knowledge of power conversion/drives platforms and available solutions. • Experience in filter design and transformer selection for AC and DC power conversion projects. • Proficiency with vendor‑specific programming tools for power conversion components. • Understanding of standard fault scenarios and solutions in electrical systems, including power electronics. • Strong experience with national and regional grid codes (e.g., UL1741, IEEE 1547) – a hard requirement. • Experience in embedded code development (C or AutoCAD) and 2+ years in HIL, MIL, SIL (plus). • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. • Fluency in English and ability to read/interpret procedures, single‑line and ladder diagrams.
