About the Role
The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compact heavy equipment, and light trucks to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, recycling equipment such as sorting screens, optical sorters, magnets, and eddy currents, as well as electrical systems, balers, conveyor systems, and compactors. The technician diagnoses mechanical problems using diagnostic software, technical manuals, and expertise, then performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, heavy equipment, and light trucks. Repairs cover hydraulic systems, transmissions, electrical systems, engines, balers, conveyor systems, and compactors, and parts are replaced as directed by a work order system with completed field service reports. Additional duties include overhauling or replacing machine components, communicating with supervisors and equipment operators, and discussing preventive techniques to minimize future repairs. The role also involves daily consumables reporting for hours, fuel, and oil usage, performing preventative maintenance, and maintaining or installing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, odor, and negative‑pressure systems. The technician installs new equipment, coordinates with vendors, and programs simple PLC instructions to enhance plant monitoring.

What You Bring
Qualifications include a minimum of one year’s experience with building maintenance, HVAC, odor systems, and negative‑pressure systems, and at least three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Candidates should have knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems, welding or fabrication skills, PLC programming experience, a valid driver’s license, a mechanical or trade school certificate, and a certificate in electronic diagnostics. A minimum of one year of equipment maintenance and repair experience is required.
