About the Role
As Head of Health Safety and Security, you will provide strategic health, safety and security advice to leadership and delivery teams, embed the ‘Safe at Heart’ culture, and ensure the supply chain meets HS2’s HSS standards. You will also lead embedded managers within Integrated Project Teams, support the Safety Health Wellbeing Leadership Team, and assist in developing risk‑based assurance programmes. • Provide strategic health, safety and environmental advice to leadership and delivery teams. • Challenge the status quo and IPTs to achieve the highest HSS standards. • Lead and oversee functional line management of embedded managers within IPTs. • Support the Safety Health Wellbeing Leadership Team to meet its objectives. • Assist in developing the risk‑based health and safety assurance programme. • Ensure the supply chain complies with HS2’s HSS standards and requirements. • Advise leadership on Safe Decision Making and Common Safety Method compliance. • Model and embed the ‘Safe at Heart’ culture across development and delivery. • Support health, safety and security considerations in asset design. • Validate and approve subcontractor HSS performance pre‑contract and aid onboarding. • Facilitate delivery of Health, Safety and Security services to project teams. • Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in all work.

Benefits
The base salary for the Head of Health Safety and Security role ranges from £79,300 to £100,421 per annum in London and from £67,450 to £92,982 per annum in Birmingham, depending on skills and experience. In addition, a flexible benefits fund equal to 20% of the base salary is offered, fully pensionable, alongside a suite of competitive benefits detailed on the company website.
