About the Role
• Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand WSP’s traffic design practice in the target regions. • Lead business development and staff development, cultivating new and existing client relationships. • Build a robust pipeline of traffic design opportunities and position WSP to win projects. • Manage complex traffic projects—including signals, signing, striping, traffic control, MOT, ITS, and modeling—from initiation through operations and maintenance. • Oversee project scope, objectives, and requirements; collaborate with clients; identify and mitigate risks; ensure high‑quality deliverables and rigorous quality reviews. • Lead multidisciplinary teams of internal staff, sub‑consultants, contractors, and vendors, fostering trust and accountability. • Negotiate and manage contracts with internal groups or external vendors to meet client specifications. • Coordinate with cross‑disciplinary teams, government agencies, and other stakeholders. • Present technical and project information to executives, clients, and public audiences. • Develop technical proposals, scopes of work, and project budgets. • Mentor and develop staff technical skills and professional growth. • Exercise ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring

Unsolicited resumes from recruiters are not accepted; any such submission becomes the property of WSP. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related discipline. • Minimum 15 years of post‑degree experience in engineering and traffic design. • Licensed Professional Engineer in New York (or obtain reciprocity within six months). • Proven experience managing complex projects with budgets, schedules, and technical requirements. • Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation and related design software. • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross‑functional internal and external teams. • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines. • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. • Experience delivering projects in New York, New Jersey, or the broader Northeast. • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and occasional travel as required. • Preferred: recognized technical excellence and thought leadership in traffic design. • Preferred: active participation in industry organizations. • Preferred: PE licensure in New Jersey or Connecticut.

The expected salary range for this position is $195,000 to $325,000, reflecting the candidate’s education, experience, and geographic location. Compensation may vary based on internal equity and applicable laws.
