About the Role
In this role you will design and estimate asset renewal, customer‑initiated, major tender and defect‑resolution projects, providing high‑quality engineering solutions and quotations while ensuring projects adhere to specifications, stay within budget and are completed on schedule. The successful candidate will work closely with both internal teams and external partners, using strong communication and problem‑solving abilities to meet client expectations and uphold safety standards. • Deliver high‑quality engineering design, estimation and quotation services. • Conduct quality audits of onsite work to ensure compliance with contracts, standards and regulations. • Prepare detailed scopes, proposals, reports, handover packages and commissioning documentation. • Manage projects to meet specifications, budgets and deadlines, coordinating resources efficiently. • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Downer’s Engineering Solutions Division is seeking electrical design professionals to help power smarter infrastructure throughout New Zealand. Whether you are an experienced engineer or moving from a trade background, the position offers a dynamic pathway into electricity distribution projects that make a tangible difference. • Possess knowledge of electricity distribution networks and design/pricing experience in infrastructure or utilities. • Have a trade or engineering background (e.g., line mechanic, electrician, cable jointer). • Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
