About the Role
Assist experienced welders by preparing materials, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe environment to support welding processes. This support role helps ensure efficient and high-quality welds. Under supervision, the helper sets up and operates power and hand tools, cleans and prepares workpieces, handles and stores welding materials, reads basic blueprints, and performs tack welding to join components. The assistant also helps maintain a clean, safe workplace and follows all safety guidelines. • Assist Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks as directed. • Prepare workpieces by cleaning, grinding, and scraping. • Set up welding equipment and tools under supervision. • Handle and store welding materials and equipment properly. • Operate power and hand tools under guidance. • Perform tack welding to join components before final welding. • Support welders in maintaining a safe and clean work environment. • Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times. • Help train and mentor new helpers as needed. • Apply good decision-making and analytical problem-solving abilities. • Sit or stand for up to 95 % of work hours. • Occasionally work in hot or cold temperatures, dust, and chemical fume exposure. • Participate in profit-sharing or annual incentive plan bonuses.
