About the Role

In this position, the Principal will provide direction for data‑center building design, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with sector directors and operations leadership to capture new business and expand service offerings. Responsibilities also include shaping strategies, overseeing scope, schedule, and fee development, and monitoring project execution across commercial, technical, and financial dimensions. • Lead data‑center design teams, ensuring clear communication and overall design leadership. • Challenge architects and engineers early to shape innovative design strategies. • Recruit, mentor, and develop junior staff within the data‑center design group. • Partner with sector directors and local leadership to grow new client relationships and expand service scope. • Create capture plans and build strategic relationships with key clients. • Develop qualifications packages and support proposal submissions. • Coordinate pursuit go/no‑go decisions and strategy discussions with operations leadership. • Maintain knowledge of client technical needs, market trends, and HDR’s positioning to capture contracts. • Define project scope, schedule, and fees while communicating staffing and expertise requirements. • Lead annual strategy and planning initiatives for the Industrial and Tech sector. • Monitor project performance across commercial, technical, and financial aspects. • Leverage HDR’s full range of services for data‑center facilities, civil utilities, site infrastructure, corporate campuses, and energy projects.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, be a registered architect, and bring at least 15 years of relevant experience, including seven years of project‑management leadership on large‑scale projects. Strong communication, team‑building, market knowledge, and willingness to travel are essential, as is a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. • Registered architect license. • Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience. • At least 7 years of project‑management experience on large‑scale projects. • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver client presentations. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project). • Deep knowledge of local and regional markets. • Strong leadership, mentoring, and people‑management skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. • Willingness to travel as required.
