About the Role
The Welding Helper supports experienced welders by preparing materials, operating equipment, and ensuring a safe work environment throughout the welding process. In this role the employee assists Welder I and Welder II with various tasks, prepares workpieces through cleaning, grinding, and scraping, sets up and stores welding tools and materials, operates power and hand tools under supervision, reads basic welding blueprints, performs tack welding, and helps maintain a clean and safe workspace. The helper also follows safety guidelines and may mentor new assistants. • Assist Welder I/II with welding tasks. • Clean, grind, and scrape workpieces for welding. • Set up welding equipment and tools under supervision. • Properly handle and store welding materials and equipment. • Operate power and hand tools under guidance. • Perform tack welding of components. • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. • Follow safety procedures and guidelines. • Train and mentor new helpers as needed. • Build strong interpersonal relationships. • Apply decision‑making and analytical problem‑solving skills. • Sit or stand for most of the workday. • Work in variable temperatures, dust, and occasional chemical fumes.
