About the Role

The Disaster Recovery Division in Houston is hiring a part‑time Variable Site Inspector. The role supports critical disaster recovery programs by conducting post‑storm site inspections, creating scopes of work, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with program leadership, contractors, and applicants to ensure efficient and compliant community recovery. The inspector will assist in implementing disaster recovery programs, maintain full knowledge of program policies, and oversee specific phases of construction projects. Responsibilities include inspecting residential and commercial damage, developing repair scopes and cost packages, interacting with general contractors, and performing progress inspections while adhering to local building codes and AECOM standards. • Conduct post‑storm site inspections of residential and commercial properties. • Develop detailed scopes of work and cost estimates for disaster‑related repairs. • Prepare Estimated Cost of Repairs (ECR) packages and analyze contractor estimates. • Perform 50 % and final progress inspections to verify compliance. • Collaborate with general contractors, program leadership, and applicants throughout recovery projects. • Ensure adherence to local building codes, GLO design standards, and AECOM policies. • Assist in QA/QC of cost estimates generated by other inspectors. • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of disaster recovery program requirements and pre‑construction processes.

What You Bring

Minimum qualifications include a BA/BS degree and at least four years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications are Xactimate Level 2 certification, five or more years of disaster‑recovery construction experience, familiarity with CDBG or FEMA hazard‑mitigation programs, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting. • BA/BS degree with 4+ years of relevant experience (minimum requirement). • Xactimate Level 2 certification and proficiency in estimation software (preferred). • 5+ years of disaster‑recovery construction experience, preferably with CDBG or FEMA programs. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and reporting.
