About the Role

The senior engineer will perform highway, interchange, and street design, including geometric design, 3D modeling, drainage, work‑zone traffic control, and construction staging. They will develop specifications, calculate material quantities, and coordinate with CAD designers, engineers, and subcontractors. Responsibilities also include supervising the creation of engineering products, preparing budgets and schedules, and delivering detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, and technical reports. The role supports multidisciplinary design teams, optimizes plans by integrating drainage and utility data, and uses visualization to resolve conflicts. • Perform highway, interchange, and street design including geometric design, 3D modeling, drainage, work‑zone traffic control, construction staging, specifications, and material quantity calculations. • Utilize engineering software and coordinate with CAD designers, engineers, and subcontractors. • Develop or supervise engineering deliverables, defining problem, scope, budget, schedule, planning, technical direction, and status reporting. • Produce calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, technical reports, and detailed analyses. • Optimize plans, profiles, and cross‑sections by integrating drainage and utility data. • Generate temporary and permanent construction quantities and use visualization to resolve conflicts. • Support multidisciplinary design teams for project execution.

We are currently seeking experienced Senior Highway Design Engineers to join our teams in upstate New York, including Syracuse, Buffalo, and Rochester. Our robust backlog of conventional and design/build projects offers strong leaders the chance to lead projects and mentor engineers and designers. Candidates must hold a four‑year degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and possess strong NYSDOT highway design experience. At least eight years of experience with 3D design on major road projects and a valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license are required. Proficiency in CAD and engineering software is essential, and knowledge of Bentley’s InRoads and OpenRoads Designer is desired. Travel opportunities support major infrastructure projects across North America. No security clearance is required for this position, which is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. Our experts design and deliver infrastructure that connects and protects communities worldwide. • Hold a four‑year degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. • Possess strong NYSDOT highway design experience and at least eight years on major road projects using 3D design. • Maintain a valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. • Proficient with CAD and engineering software; experience with Bentley InRoads and OpenRoads Designer preferred.
