About the Role
The Senior Piping Estimator leads the estimating and bidding process for piping and mechanical construction projects, handling detailed takeoffs, pricing, and proposal development. This role evaluates drawings, specifications, and project requirements to deliver accurate, competitive cost estimates while identifying risks, constructability issues, and value‑engineering opportunities. The estimator collaborates closely with preconstruction, project management, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery. • Lead cost estimate preparation for piping and mechanical scopes on commercial, industrial, and heavy‑construction projects • Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment takeoffs from drawings and specifications • Develop conceptual budgets, ROM estimates, and design‑build pricing • Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor quotations • Analyze scope, specifications, and constructability to identify risks, gaps, and cost drivers • Prepare detailed bid proposals, clarifications, and value‑engineering options • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and client discussions; support project handoff and budget validation • Review and price change orders post‑award; maintain historical cost data and contribute to estimating standards

What You Bring
The position requires frequent travel, typically 80‑100% of the time, with most work performed in an office setting and occasional site visits and pre‑bid meetings. It operates in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven preconstruction environment, demanding strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) • Possess 8–12+ years of piping or mechanical estimating experience in construction • Demonstrate strong knowledge of piping systems, fittings, valves, and installation methods • Proficient with estimating software such as AccuBid and Bluebeam; able to read P&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical drawings • Exhibit strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills • Knowledge of ASME B31 series piping codes (preferred)
