About the Role

The primary responsibility is to collect and record facility field data—including measurements, mapping, photography, equipment inventory, and staking—to update records and create design documents. Working under senior technical or engineering staff, the technician may act as a design or staking assistant and could assist in power restoration during natural disasters. Accurate data capture using paper forms, electronic devices, digital cameras, laser range finders, and GPS receivers is required, along with meeting production targets and occasional overnight travel. • Collect and record facility field data (measurements, mapping, photography, inventory, staking) for updates and design documents. • Assist senior technical staff as a design or staking aide in the field. • Utilize handheld data collection devices, laser range finders, GPS receivers, and digital cameras to capture accurate information. • Identify and document field items with minimal supervision, adhering to correct standards and symbology. • Support power restoration efforts during natural disaster events (e.g., driver, wire sitter, runner). • Meet production targets and adhere to project deliverable milestones. • Travel overnight when project demands require it. • Promote safety by following Pike Engineering’s safety manual and participating in safety initiatives.

What You Bring

This entry‑level field technician role may serve as a training slot for future Designer or CAD positions. The incumbent should be well organized, possess strong written communication skills, and be familiar with MS Office and CAD drafting systems where applicable. Experience in utility design or line construction and a basic understanding of GIS systems are preferred. High self‑motivation and the ability to work independently in an outdoor environment are essential, as is a valid driver’s license. • Maintain high organization and written communication skills; proficient with MS Office and CAD/GIS tools. • Demonstrate self‑motivation, ability to work independently, and comfort working outdoors with a valid driver’s license. • Exhibit teamwork, customer orientation, and ability to manage multiple tasks while training new peers.
