About the Role

This opportunity provides technical environmental planning assistance aimed at minimizing the environmental impacts of commercial, industrial, utility, transmission, development, infrastructure, construction, pipeline, and transportation projects. Tasks may include permitting, site and impact assessment, restoration, land use management plans, public involvement, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role generates accurate documentation by integrating urban and regional planning with a focus on sustainability and adheres to industry quality standards. In this role you will collect, identify, and compile observational, spatial, operational, and environmental data from multiple sources for projects, research, and surveys. You will use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS data, and other visualization tools to determine exact locations, site impacts, habitat types, and associated sensitivities. Responsibilities also include preparing environmental survey reports, data entry, impact assessments, and permitting activities, maintaining quality‑control standards, conducting investigations and inspections, and producing data visualizations, tables, charts, and technical reports. • Collect and compile observational, spatial, operational, and environmental data from multiple sources. • Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS, and visualization tools to locate project sites and assess habitat sensitivities. • Prepare environmental survey reports, data entry, impact assessments, and permitting documentation (ESA, CWA, CEQA, NEPA). • Maintain quality‑control standards for measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting. • Conduct investigations, inspections, and environmental studies to inform mitigation plans. • Create data visualizations, tables, charts, and technical reports summarizing findings. • Assist in developing strategic planning and permitting execution strategies for small‑to‑medium projects. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 1–3 years of relevant experience. Required skills include strong analytical abilities, knowledge of environmental laws and permitting requirements, proficiency with ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch‑Up, and business writing tools, as well as effective communication, self‑leadership, and attention to detail. Candidates must demonstrate critical thinking, problem‑solving, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to work flexible schedules and travel as needed. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, essential professional licensure or certification, and additional experience that enhances expertise in environmental planning and permitting. Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $58,500 – $96,580, with compensation determined based on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic location. WSP reserves the right to adjust the final offer based on applicable laws and individual circumstances.
