About the Role
The carpenter constructs, positions, and dismantles wooden structures such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters. Work is performed according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards. Key duties include selecting and gathering materials, interpreting blueprints, inspecting base surfaces, loading and transporting supplies, measuring and cutting boards, and using hand and power tools. The carpenter assembles scaffolding components, braces forms for concrete work, rigs materials when needed, and conducts minor maintenance on tools and equipment. All activities must comply with safety and project regulations. • Examine, select, and gather materials and tools. • Review blueprints and specifications to determine structure dimensions. • Inspect base surfaces for obstructions. • Load, transport, and unload material. • Measure boards, timbers, or plywood and mark cutting lines. • Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars. • Assemble scaffolding components—including handrails, mid rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins, and wheels—to job specifications. • Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for concrete piers, footings, and walls. • Secure scaffolding to permanent structures by tying. • Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways. • Set and brace anchor bolts. • Rig materials as needed. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning on tools and equipment. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare and identify differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
The position typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and prior experience in carpentry or a related field. The worker must be able to work accurately, make decisions based on measurable criteria, apply basic mathematics, and operate at heights without fear. Work is performed under immediate supervision following established guidelines. • Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes. • Apply basic mathematics and solve problems.
