About the Role

Cost reduction is a core objective, requiring contract negotiations, total cost of ownership assessments, and monitoring of market drivers such as raw material pricing and commodity inflation. The role also emphasizes leadership, coaching team members, and influencing early design phases to accelerate procurement processes. • Develop and implement category strategies for mechanical and electrical equipment. • Engage internal stakeholders to capture requirements and conduct spend analysis. • Create sourcing strategies detailing projects, levers, timing, resources, and benefits. • Maintain leadership‑level supplier relationships and conduct business reviews. • Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance; assist with expedites as needed. • Manage category financial results, pricing strategies, and lead regular financial reviews. • Lead contract negotiations, define negotiation strategy, and assess total cost of ownership. • Track market drivers, commodity inflation, and forecast impacts on categories. • Coach and lead team members, providing feedback and performance management. • Influence early design phases to expedite procurement decisions. • Communicate effectively with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.

The role focuses on optimizing cost, quality, and delivery while improving supply chain efficiencies and maintaining supplier relationships. Preferred hiring locations are Minneapolis, MN; San Antonio, TX; or Denver, CO, with remote options also considered. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or a related discipline, and have at least five years of experience managing category spend and negotiating contracts for mechanical equipment. Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, communication, and influencing skills are required, along with knowledge of construction processes and the ability to travel up to 30%. • Travel up to 30% of the time. • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, construction management, or related field. • 5+ years experience managing category spend and negotiating contracts for mechanical equipment. • Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and negotiation skills. • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing abilities. • Knowledge of construction processes and materials.
