About the Role
The Project Safety Lead partners with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and construction project teams in Nashville, TN to ensure site compliance with company EH&S programs, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. This role drives the implementation of safe work practices and guides the management of environmental and hazardous material reporting. Key responsibilities include leading and enforcing EH&S programs on a single construction project, building relationships to foster a safety-focused culture, assessing exposures, developing mitigation plans, and communicating performance expectations to project leadership. The role also conducts training for all personnel, analyzes environmental surveys, reviews hazardous material reports, and develops safety, health, and wellbeing programs while reporting performance to stakeholders. • Lead and enforce EH&S programs on a designated construction project. • Build and maintain relationships with project teams to drive safety culture changes. • Assess known and potential safety exposures and develop mitigation action plans. • Communicate performance requirements and ensure adherence to safety standards. • Conduct training on EH&S policies, procedures, and environmental programs for all site personnel. • Analyze Phase I, Phase II, and pre‑demolition environmental surveys to mitigate risks. • Review and interpret hazardous material reports and regulatory requirements, providing guidance. • Design and implement safety, health, and wellbeing programs for the project workforce. • Prepare and present safety performance reports to project meetings and stakeholders. • Negotiate contracts for safety services, occupational health, and on‑site wellness/medical support. • Manage, mentor, and evaluate the project safety team, including hiring and training responsibilities. • Ensure compliance with travel requirements and maintain reliable transportation. • Maintain OSHA 30‑hour training and current First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED certifications. • Provide effective delegation and management of team members in a non‑structured environment.

What You Bring
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), at least seven years of construction safety experience, and CHST certification within six months of hire. Additional qualifications include OSHA 30-hour training, current First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED certifications, thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, incident-management experience, and demonstrated management and communication skills. Physical demands involve frequent climbing, lifting up to 15 lb (occasionally 50 lb), stair and ladder use, and the ability to navigate construction sites while maintaining visual and auditory acuity. The role requires regular travel and reliable transportation. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Possess at least 7 years of construction safety experience and a CHST certification (or obtain within 6 months). • Demonstrate knowledge of Federal, State, and local EHS regulations and incident‑management expertise. • Exhibit strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
