About the Role

The Operations Manager oversees onboarding, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for all drivers and helpers. This role builds positive relationships with front‑line employees and spends most of the day in the field alongside them. Key duties include providing tools, instruction, and feedback to new hires, maintaining daily communication, reviewing best practices, and supporting employee career goals. The manager also conducts root‑cause investigations for injuries, ensures regulatory documentation is accurate, audits route operations, and visits customer sites to resolve safety issues. • Onboard new frontline employees with tools, instruction, and feedback. • Provide daily coaching and consistent touchpoints to support performance. • Review and implement best practices to enhance daily operations. • Assist employees in progressing toward their career goals. • Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate on solutions. • Conduct root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents. • Maintain and audit regulatory documentation (e.g., DVIRs, time records). • Visit customers and sites to evaluate and resolve safety concerns. • Lead by example to enforce safety standards and promote the WM Way.

What You Bring

Required qualifications are an Associate's degree (or a High School diploma with two years of relevant experience), a valid driver's license, legal eligibility to work, and a minimum age of 18. Preferred candidates have completed the WM Operations Manager Trainee program. • Require Associate's degree or high school diploma plus 2 years experience. • Must hold a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years old, and be legally authorized to work.
