About the Role

Key duties include attending customer site meetings and field walk‑downs, validating and marking up one‑line diagrams, writing study reports and work scopes, reviewing power equipment drawings, and supporting Factory Acceptance Testing at supplier facilities. The intern will also assist with commissioning efforts, develop electrical load lists and cable schedules, and collaborate with internal and external engineering resources to meet Engineering Stage‑Gate deliverables. Rotations expose the intern to senior designers, using AutoCAD and Visio to develop power system designs, and provide hands‑on site commissioning experience to verify engineering deliverables and update as‑built documentation. Additional responsibilities involve creating deliverables for the FEED process, such as load lists, cable schedules, one‑line diagrams, and FAT test plans. • Maintain compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality assurance policies. • Attend customer site meetings and conduct field walk‑downs. • Validate and markup one‑line electrical diagrams. • Prepare study reports and detailed work scopes. • Review and assess electrical power equipment drawings and documentation. • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing at equipment supplier facilities. • Support commissioning activities on‑site or in Houston. • Develop electrical load lists and cable schedules. • Collaborate with internal and external engineers to produce stage‑gate deliverables. • Communicate technical issues to leadership and ensure proper documentation of work.

Interns in the Electrical Department will experience a typical day of an electrical power engineer, contributing to real‑world projects and delivering tangible results. The role emphasizes safety and quality compliance, requiring the intern to follow all safety laws, report violations, and adhere to the Quality Assurance Plan. Applicants must be working toward a four‑year Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, have completed sophomore‑level curriculum, and be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD. Preferred skills include exposure to power system study software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower), strong organizational and communication abilities, proactive problem‑solving, and meticulous attention to documentation detail.
