About the Role

Key duties include ensuring component conformity to engineering drawings, managing incoming inspection and metrology activities, and using both traditional and digital inspection techniques to measure mechanical parts. The apprentice must inspect accurately in a fast‑paced environment, report any issues to relevant parties, and develop new inspection plans and CMM/VMM programs for new components. • Conduct incoming and problem‑part inspections using traditional and digital measurement techniques. • Ensure components meet engineering drawings and maintain accurate metrology records. • Produce clear issue reports and develop inspection plans, including CMM/VMM programs for new parts. • Participate in on‑the‑job training, mentorship, induction and wellbeing support, plus 20% off‑the‑job apprenticeship training. • Work 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, with schedule set by line manager. • Read and interpret engineering drawings; apply inspection techniques to complex mechanical components.

What You Bring

Applicants need a minimum of five GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) in maths, English and a science subject, plus a Level 3 engineering apprenticeship or 90 BTEC credits. Essential skills are the ability to read and understand drawings and to apply inspection techniques on complex mechanical components; desirable traits include adaptability, flexibility, and curiosity about manufacturing processes.
