About the Role
In this position you will install, maintain and repair centralized plant and HVAC systems, diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, and carry out scheduled servicing, performance testing and system adjustments. You will also clean, calibrate and maintain equipment in line with warranties and compliance requirements, and contribute to Zero Harm safety initiatives by identifying and reporting hazards, incidents and safety concerns. • Install, maintain, and repair centralized plant and HVAC systems. • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform scheduled servicing. • Conduct performance testing, system adjustments, cleaning, calibration, and compliance tasks. • Participate in Zero Harm safety initiatives and report hazards and incidents. • Manage own workload, schedule tasks, and collaborate with clinical staff, technicians, and contractors. • Complete documentation such as timesheets, service sheets, and dockets.

What You Bring
Downer is searching for an experienced HVAC Technician to join the team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This is a full‑time role that operates on a rotating roster of day, afternoon and night shifts, followed by a 3‑ to 3.5‑week break during which employees work standard day shifts. The roster includes five consecutive shifts of each type with two days off, plus RDO or 1‑2 additional days off. Effective work management is essential; you will schedule your own tasks, support service improvement, quality control and risk mitigation, and collaborate with clinical staff, internal technicians and contractors. Clear written communication is required for timesheets, service sheets and dockets. The role requires a Certificate III in Electrotechnology, Refrigeration and Air‑Conditioning, an HVAC trade certification, a South Australian Restricted Electrical Licence, a White Card and a valid, unrestricted driver’s licence. Desirable qualifications include a First Aid Certificate. Candidates must have solid HVAC installation, servicing and repair experience, strong fault‑finding skills, knowledge of building codes and safe work practices, and a team‑oriented attitude with good communication and customer‑service abilities. • Hold Certificate III in Electrotechnology, Refrigeration and Air‑Conditioning and HVAC trade certification. • Possess a South Australian Restricted Electrical Licence and a valid White Card. • Have solid HVAC installation, servicing, and repair experience with strong fault‑finding skills. • Demonstrate knowledge of building codes, safe work practices, and excellent communication and customer service.
