About the Role
KBR’s National Security Solutions team delivers high‑end engineering and advanced technology solutions to intelligence and national security customers. The Systems Administrator role supports the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) development team in Colorado Springs, CO, contributing directly to the nation’s critical security objectives. At KBR you will work on prototype projects that advance the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory’s mission‑critical objectives, collaborating with cross‑functional teams that practice Agile and DevOps. The environment encourages knowledge sharing, innovation, and problem‑solving, with a focus on expanding national capabilities across air, space, and cyberspace. • Manage and secure cloud‑based information systems for availability, performance, scalability, and compliance. • Harden systems to NIST 800‑53, NIST 800‑171, DISA STIGs, and SRGs requirements. • Monitor performance and proactively troubleshoot issues. • Deploy applications with development teams, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. • Automate routine administrative tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy. • Implement latest industry technologies, trends, and best practices. • Work with cross‑functional teams to secure new and existing systems and applications. • Lead or attend stakeholder meetings to report status and progress.

What You Bring
• Hold an active U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. citizen required). • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer, information systems, or a related field. • Have DoD 8570‑compliant IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+). • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS or Azure. • Proficient with Git/GitLab and scripting languages (Bash, Python, .Net, Java). • Familiar with Apache products like NiFi, Kafka, and Zookeeper. • Experience with virtual machines and Type 1 hypervisors (KVM, ESXi). • Demonstrated expertise in Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and tools like Kubernetes, Puppet, and Ansible. • Skilled in implementing DISA STIGs and SRGs. • Excellent oral and written communication abilities. • Desired: Linux System Administrator background, DevSecOps, Risk Management Framework implementation, and software development (C++, Java, C).

Benefits
The position is 100 % onsite in Colorado Springs, CO, with minimal travel and standard working hours. You will join a collaborative team that values rapid iteration and continuous feedback. The salary range for Colorado Springs is $80,800 – $121,200, with additional compensation such as bonuses, sign‑on incentives, relocation assistance, and performance‑based payments available according to internal policy.
