About the Role
Key responsibilities include developing and optimising protection and control solutions—creating line, schematic and SCADA diagrams, relay settings, wiring and interface drawings—while ensuring supplier designs meet National Grid and client standards. The engineer will act as Owner’s Engineer on high‑voltage, battery‑energy‑storage and renewable projects, and will perform protection coordination studies using ETAP or similar software. • Develop and optimise protection & control diagrams, relay settings, SCADA topology, wiring and interface drawings for transmission and distribution projects. • Review supplier designs for technical compliance with National Grid and client standards. • Act as Owner’s Engineer, reviewing and commenting on supplier calculations for high‑voltage, BESS and renewable projects. • Perform protection coordination studies and calculate settings using ETAP or similar software.

What You Bring
Candidates should hold an electrical or power engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng) and have experience with high‑voltage transmission design (132 kV to 400 kV), preferably within National Grid or SSE processes. A background in P&C FEED or detailed design, strong client‑focused communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential. • Hold an electrical or power engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng). • Experience with high‑voltage (132‑400 kV) transmission design, preferably following National Grid or SSE processes. • Strong knowledge of P&C FEED or detailed design of high‑voltage installations. • Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects and provide client‑focused support. • Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills in a client‑facing environment.
