Senior Architect

About the Role

The incumbent will lead the design of complex construction projects, collaborating with clients, project managers, directors, and other design professionals to ensure successful delivery. Responsibilities include overseeing the project vision, developing conceptual sketches, design reports, detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and standards. Key duties also involve coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing design documentation for statutory submission, establishing BIM and document‑organization strategies, and implementing Safety in Design and ISO 9001 quality assurance. The Senior Architect will mentor less‑experienced staff, participate in professional development reviews, and must hold or be eligible for UAE architectural registration. • Lead design from concept through construction documentation and IFC delivery. • Develop project vision, conceptual sketches, design reports, and detailed drawings. • Prepare drawings, models, renderings, and related documentation; meet with clients to discuss requirements. • Coordinate design across all disciplines, subconsultants, and stakeholders. • Review and ensure project documents meet client requirements and industry standards. • Prepare and submit discipline drawings to statutory authorities, adhering to local and international codes. • Define document strategy, organize data, and integrate BIM deliverables. • Implement Safety in Design principles and maintain ISO 9001 quality assurance. • Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development and lessons‑learned sessions.

What You Bring

The Senior Architect role in the UAE office seeks a professional with expertise in mixed‑use, residential, hospitality, recreational, ecotourism, and educational design. This position will make a significant contribution to GHD’s design and delivery capability and will be involved across all stages of project development. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, with professional registration preferred, and at least five years of experience on medium‑to‑large projects across various sectors. Proficiency in Revit, Photoshop, SketchUp (or similar 3D software), Twinmotion/Lumion, InDesign, Illustrator, Excel, and other MS Office applications is required, along with strong knowledge of UAE building codes and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a proactive, team‑oriented environment. • Hold UAE architectural registration or be able to obtain it. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture; professional registration preferred. • Minimum five years experience on medium‑to‑large projects across residential, commercial, hospitality, etc. • Proven experience leading teams and managing multiple concurrent projects. • Proficient in Revit, Photoshop, SketchUp/3D software, Twinmotion/Lumion, InDesign, Illustrator, Excel, and MS Office. • Knowledge of UAE building codes, regulations, and submission processes. • Ability to work proactively, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively in a team environment. • Experience with Middle East design and construction practices, including fast‑track and design‑to‑budget projects. • Strong project management, communication, and teamwork skills.
