About the Role

Interns will regularly use technical software to analyze, produce, and quality‑check deliverables for clients. They will contribute to pre‑construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis across multiple projects of varying size and scope. Interns will solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to realize clients’ visions for the built environment. They will become familiar with federal, state, and local regulations as well as Kimley‑Horn’s and client practices, procedures, and standards. Interns will learn one or more discipline‑specific software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, MicroStation, VISSIM, OpenRoads, Synchro, or GIS. • Utilize technical software (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, etc.) to analyze and QC deliverables. • Assist in pre‑construction civil engineering design, planning, permitting, and analysis. • Solve complex problems and support project managers across disciplines. • Learn and apply federal, state, and local regulatory standards and company procedures.

What You Bring

Kimley-Horn is seeking engineering students to join its Escondido, CA office. This is an on‑site position, not remote. Candidates must be pursuing an ABET‑accredited engineering degree (B.S. or M.S.) in civil or environmental engineering; mechanical, biological, biosystems, chemical, or agricultural engineering; or engineering technology. The hourly rate for the internship is $27–$31. • Pursue an ABET‑accredited degree in a relevant engineering field.
