About the Role
• Lead and manage multimodal transportation planning projects, including feasibility, corridor, master plans, economic and O&M studies. • Assign, monitor, and mentor project teams to ensure quality and timely delivery. • Integrate transit and program models and innovative approaches into project frameworks. • Develop and scale transit teams for new markets, including piloting and expansion. • Create timetables and train chart tools for fleet and staff planning. • Conduct operational modeling of new service specifications and fleet sizing exercises. • Design O&M requirements, identify data gaps, and analyze operating contracts for improvement opportunities. • Conduct public involvement, lead stakeholder meetings, and consolidate feedback. • Serve as visible leader and trusted advisor to clients and internal teams. • Collect, analyze, and interpret transportation data to support decision‑making. • Produce high‑quality deliverables such as graphics, reports, and web‑based products. • Develop and assess conceptual alternatives and design options, consolidating recommendations. • Collaborate with business development and senior management on project pursuits. • Build relationships with clients, industry partners, and contractors. • Perform QA reviews, ensure compliance with AECOM standards, and champion continuous improvement.

What You Bring
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Manager for our New England Transit Market Group. Reporting with limited supervision, you will lead complex multimodal transportation planning projects, applying advanced economic, financial, and statistical techniques. The role involves overseeing feasibility, corridor, master plans and O&M studies while mentoring project teams and engaging stakeholders. Successful candidates will act as a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients and internal teams. • BS/BA with 8+ years relevant experience (or equivalent). • 10 years transportation experience preferred. • PMP certification. • Experience in multimodal planning, demand modeling, economic analysis, safety & security, workforce development, operations & maintenance, and leadership. • Proven project management experience as Project Manager, Task Leader, or Deputy PM on significant projects. • Skilled in using concept maps to structure processes, roles, and workflows. • Experience organizing feedback sessions and consolidating recommendations. • Ability to replicate successful models in new areas and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

Benefits
The position is based in Boston, Massachusetts and follows a hybrid work model. Compensation ranges from $140,000 to $210,000 annually, depending on location and qualifications.
