About the Role
The Director will oversee engineering operations, ensuring adherence to proper procedures and RRC’s core values: client satisfaction, employee happiness, quality work, and going above and beyond. Core responsibilities include building and growing the high‑voltage team, managing proposal development, design, quality assurance, R&D, and controlling the team’s budget, revenue, and expenses. Key duties involve consulting with the Vice President of Engineering to set long‑range goals, monitoring project timelines and budgets, leveraging industry networks to secure work, and providing leadership and mentorship to engineers and managers. The role also requires staying current on new trends, technologies, and best practices, and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment. • Build and lead a High Voltage engineering design team for substation and transmission projects in North America. • Drive proposal development, engineering design, QA/QC, and R&D for renewable energy and utility markets. • Manage team budget, revenue, profit and expenses while ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. • Coach engineers and managers, assign resources, and oversee project execution and delivery. • Leverage industry network and trade association involvement to secure new business opportunities. • Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and generate design packages without clear specifications. • Supervise personnel, providing leadership, communication, and mentorship to achieve client satisfaction. • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices to improve product lines and efficiency. • Travel up to 10% to project sites and stakeholder meetings.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering with at least ten years of renewable‑energy or utility high‑voltage substation or transmission design experience, a PE license (or ability to obtain one), and a minimum of five years managing personnel and projects. Required skills include knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, excellent communication, and willingness to travel up to 10%.
