Electrical Engineer

About the Role

The engineer will assess existing client‑site infrastructure, design electrical systems—including cable sizing, discrimination studies, earthing, and selection of switchgear, transformers, and relay panels—to BS7671 standards, and produce LV design outputs. Responsibilities also include specifying electrical upgrades, generating scoped costed solutions, preparing high‑level assessments and investment‑grade proposals, and developing scheme designs such as single‑line diagrams, plant‑room layouts, and cable routing drawings. Additional duties cover load assessments, equipment specifications, technical support during procurement and construction, calculation studies using Amtech or ElectricalOM, and managing DNO applications, G99/G98 grid‑connection submissions, and earthing/harmonics studies up to 11 kV. • Assess client‑site infrastructure and operations. • Design low‑voltage electrical systems per BS7671 (cable sizing, discrimination, earthing, switchgear selection). • Produce LV design outputs and specify electrical upgrades within space and routing constraints. • Generate scoped, costed solutions and prepare high‑level assessments and investment‑grade proposals. • Develop scheme designs, including single‑line diagrams, plant‑room layouts, and cable routing drawings. • Conduct load assessments, load schedules, and cable sizing calculations. • Prepare equipment specifications, scopes of work, and technical documentation. • Provide technical support during procurement and construction, using Amtech or ElectricalOM for studies. • Manage DNO applications and submit G99/G98 grid‑connection and earthing/harmonics studies (up to 11 kV).

Candidates must have experience in specifying, designing, and implementing commercial power systems and a solid understanding of BS7671 18th Edition regulations. Experience with solar PV and battery‑energy‑storage‑system (BESS) design is advantageous but not required. Proficiency with industry‑standard software such as Amtech or ElectricalOM and the ability to prepare technical documentation, supply upgrades, and grid‑connection applications is expected. • Demonstrate experience with commercial power systems and knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition; solar PV/BESS design experience is a plus.
