About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Surveyor to join our team delivering the Hawke’s Bay Expressway. The Senior Surveyor will organise and deliver surveying requirements across projects, ensuring work meets the highest standards and aligns with contract programmes and specifications. The role also includes mentoring and developing junior and intermediate surveyors while upholding Downer’s core values and best practices. • Organise and deliver surveying work to meet contract specifications and high‑quality standards. • Lead and mentor junior and intermediate surveyors on site. • Manage field teams to achieve quality project outcomes. • Provide leadership and ensure adherence to Downer’s core values. • Participate in development programmes such as the Inspiring Leaders Programme.

What You Bring
The Senior Surveyor must have extensive knowledge of New Zealand surveying, especially engineering and construction surveying on major infrastructure projects, and bring both technical expertise and strong leadership capability. Candidates should hold a NZ Certificate in Land Surveying, a Diploma or Bachelor of Surveying, and have experience on major infrastructure or Tier 1 construction projects. Proficiency with modern civil software such as Civil3D, 12D, and Trimble Business Centre, as well as experience using Leica or Trimble total stations and GNSS, is required. Flexibility to travel and work on projects outside the home base, and a demonstrated ability to lead field teams and deliver quality outcomes, are also essential.
