About the Role

The Senior Project Engineer will manage a small project or a component of a larger, more complex project under supervision, applying JE Dunn’s processes and tools to support project management, administration, and field execution. This role operates with autonomy in its assigned area, making decisions, recommending actions to supervisors, and following the company’s vision, values, and safety culture. The career path leads toward a Project Manager 1 position. • Coordinate QA/QC planning for assigned tasks. • Participate in estimating and change management, including quantity take‑off and subcontractor proposals. • Monitor on‑site crew size, self‑perform hours, materials, quantity, and equipment. • Handle punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews, and prepare documentation. • Post updated drawings and specifications. • Organize and participate in project meetings; prepare and distribute required documents. • Produce daily, weekly, and progress reports, equipment tracking, and other project documentation. • Conduct job‑site observations with project leadership. • Create procurement logs, track shop drawings, and follow up on deliveries. • Provide progress updates to support scheduling. • Oversee project close‑out, including punch lists, O&M manuals, and as‑built drawings. • Apply best‑practice construction techniques. • Build relationships and communicate effectively with tradespeople and team members. • Collaborate and demonstrate teamwork in project settings. • Implement Lean practices into daily activities. • Identify and integrate self‑perform opportunities. • Lead preparation of estimates for base projects, self‑perform work, and change requests; define scopes and select subcontractors. • Make decisions on subcontractor and vendor selection. • Coordinate purchase orders for material timing and delivery. • Support job set‑up and administration in CMiC and other technologies. • Lead submittal process aligned with the project schedule. • Prepare and manage the project schedule for assigned portions. • Analyze and report production statistics for key components. • Manage project risks, including subcontractor performance, financials, and resource allocation. • Coordinate various meetings such as pre‑planning, post‑construction, monthly reviews, and OAC meetings. • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor pay applications. • Initiate issue conversations to foster collaborative problem‑solving. • Lead project close‑out, managing punch lists, quality, cost, and inspections. • Provide training and mentorship to team members.

What You Bring

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and have at least three years of construction experience. They must demonstrate strong communication skills, proficiency with MS Office and construction‑specific software, a solid understanding of construction management fundamentals, Lean principles, and the ability to build collaborative relationships and lead teams toward production goals. • Demonstrate understanding of company functions and support roles. • Understand contract terms and conditions. • Proficiency in MS Office and construction‑specific project management/accounting software. • Knowledge of Lean processes, self‑perform labor productivity, and specific trade scopes. • Ability to assess and optimize project productivity and maximize profitability. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered. • Minimum 3 + years of construction experience. • Ability to lift up to 25 lb; may require travel, relocation, and non‑traditional hours. • Potential exposure to extreme hot or cold conditions; frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

Compensation for this California‑based role ranges from $108,800 to $135,999, with eligibility for a performance‑based bonus and a professional non‑union benefits package.
