About the Role

The Team Lead/Technical Director for S+R is responsible for establishing a best‑in‑class practice that supports HDR’s enterprise through the development of technical expertise, knowledge‑sharing networks, and innovative tools. This role guides the community of practice, drives quality initiatives, and ensures that the S+R team delivers high‑quality, compliant solutions across complex projects. In addition to technical leadership, the position includes supervising staff, managing personnel matters, and coordinating workload and budget planning with project managers and electrical team leads. The leader also plays a key role in recruiting, mentoring, and developing talent, while monitoring utilization and performance against goals. General duties involve structuring training and succession plans, leading quality control activities, and conducting technical audits. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, have at least seven years of relevant experience, and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to HDR’s inclusive culture. • Partner with stakeholders to develop a network of Technical and Subject Matter Experts. • Design and implement mentoring and succession strategies for technical expertise. • Create communication strategies that connect global professionals for knowledge sharing. • Lead the S+R community of practice, driving quality, design reviews, and innovation. • Manage and coordinate continuing professional development activities and develop project delivery tools, standards, and workflows. • Supervise and line‑manage staff, address personnel issues, and delegate responsibilities. • Conduct recruitment, talent development, mentoring, and annual performance reviews. • Coordinate workload with Project Managers and Electrical Team Leads, monitoring utilization and budgets. • Oversee technical compliance, conduct audits, and ensure high‑quality deliverables. • Promote training, succession planning, and support business growth strategies.

What You Bring
