About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Research Development team, you will create and enhance high‑performance web applications used by CoStar researchers across residential, multifamily, tenant, and other verticals. The role emphasizes deep business understanding, collaboration with designers, backend developers, and product managers, and mentorship of fellow engineers. The position is based in Richmond, VA, with a hybrid schedule of four days onsite and one day remote. • Develop responsive, high‑performance web applications using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. • Build reusable, scalable, and secure UI components and maintain shared component libraries. • Collaborate with designers, backend developers, and product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions. • Write unit and integration tests with Jest and React Testing Library; participate in code reviews and agile ceremonies. • Mentor junior developers and serve as a front‑end technology subject‑matter expert. • Evaluate emerging front‑end technologies to improve CoStar’s platform and development practices.

What You Bring
• 5+ years of production experience with modern front‑end frameworks; strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, web standards, accessibility, security, and front‑end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel). • Experience with Agile development, unit/performance testing, and effective communication. • Preferred: knowledge of state‑management libraries (Redux, Context API) and CI/CD pipelines with Git. • Preferred: familiarity with .NET Core, SQL Server, Node.js, and AWS services (S3, Lambda, SQS, Kafka, Redis).
