About the Role
The role supports the Project Manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance, while leading and mentoring project team members, anticipating challenges, identifying opportunities, and delivering practical solutions. This position requires 100% travel across the continental United States, with continuous assignment to new projects after each completion. • Perform cost control and financial management. • Collaborate with Preconstruction on estimates and schedules. • Coordinate scopes of work and review financial documentation. • Partner with Project Manager/Construction Executive and draft client proposals. • Administer contracts, award subcontracts, and manage subcontractors and suppliers. • Direct project team for safe, timely completion and mentor engineers. • Assign jobs, guide career development, and manage field/project engineers. • Lead project buyout and facilitate subcontractor coordination meetings. • Perform on‑site Project Manager duties for small‑scope projects. • Implement quality plans to meet customer performance criteria. • Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and provide coaching/feedback.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager for its Solar group. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, collaborates across all levels, and demonstrates flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, strong communication, and attention to detail. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Minimum five years of relevant experience, including self‑perform and utility‑scale solar. • Proven ability to manage complex projects and multitask. • Basic knowledge of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and project/web applications. • Strong communication, customer service, and professional attitude. • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
