About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead the engineering team in Simi Valley, California, addressing daily manufacturing challenges, driving process improvements, and delivering breakthrough changes in machining, assembly, and supplier support. The role emphasizes lean concepts to reduce waste and variation across operations. Key responsibilities include reducing scrap and non‑conformances, developing benchmark processes such as PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and SMED, and providing accurate job estimates with compressed lead‑times. The manager will design ergonomic and safe workstations, lead value‑analysis projects for cost reduction, oversee new equipment projects from selection to training, and maintain manufacturing documentation. Additionally, they will stay current with emerging technologies, drive a lean RBS culture, spearhead new product development strategies, and conduct Kaizen events based on value‑stream‑mapping roadmaps. • Reduce scrap and non‑conformances by eliminating waste and variation. • Develop and implement benchmark manufacturing processes (PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, SMED). • Provide accurate job estimations and compressed lead‑times for customers. • Design ergonomic, safe, and productive workstations and tooling. • Lead value analysis/value engineering projects to achieve cost reductions. • Manage new equipment projects from evaluation to training and sign‑off. • Create and reconcile manufacturing documentation (BOMs, labor routings). • Stay current on emerging manufacturing technologies and recommend feasible approaches. • Drive lean RBS culture through training, strategy deployment, and best‑practice tools. • Develop strategies for new product development and ensure quality/regulatory compliance. • Lead Kaizen events based on value‑stream‑mapping roadmaps. • Collaborate with Manufacturing Manager to establish robust machinist training.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, or related) and possess 7‑10 years of leadership experience in manufacturing engineering management. Required skills include strong lean‑environment leadership, decision‑making, excellent communication, and deep knowledge of material properties, machining processes, SPC, and precision manufacturing. Experience with cutting‑tool and jig‑fixture design, as well as a background in close‑tolerance industries such as bearings or hydraulics, is highly desired. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or related). • 7–10 years of leadership experience in manufacturing engineering management. • Strong lean‑environment leadership and organizational decision‑making skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication, computer, and interpersonal abilities. • Solid understanding of material properties and conventional/non‑conventional machining processes. • Proficiency with SPC, Lean Sigma, and other variation‑reduction tools. • Knowledge of cutting tool design and jig & fixture design for production. • Experience with precision machining techniques (grind, lap, hone, CNC programming). • Background in close‑tolerance industries such as bearings, hydraulics, or valve manufacturing.
