Welder

About the Role

Welders are responsible for safely MIG welding pre‑assembled structural steel products to meet the quality standards and specifications of the company’s Quality Assurance Program and industry regulators. The role includes finishing GMAW welding of assembled steel joists, performing fit‑up and production welding on angle‑iron joist chords when splicing is required, interpreting weld symbols, setting welding machines to meet CWB and internal standards, and using cutting or plasma torches as needed. Welders must operate overhead cranes within capacity, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and complete tasks assigned by the supervisor while supporting team success. • Finish GMAW welding of assembled steel joists per shop orders. • Perform fit‑up and production welding on angle‑iron joist chords, including splicing. • Interpret weld symbols and follow established weld procedures. • Set welding machine parameters to meet CWB and internal quality standards. • Operate cutting or plasma torches as required. • Use overhead crane within rated capacity for material handling. • Keep work area and equipment clean and organized. • Complete tasks assigned by supervisor and support team objectives.

What You Bring

Candidates must be capable of achieving CWB certification in GMAW and have a high school diploma. Journeyman/Red Seal certification and prior steel‑industry experience are assets but not mandatory. The ability to work safely in a fast‑paced environment is essential. • Achieve CWB certification in GMAW (required). • Hold a high school diploma; Journeyman/Red Seal certification is a plus. • Work safely in a high‑pace environment.
