About the Role

The engineer will lead the design of electrical systems, produce design documents, electrical layouts, schematics, calculations, and one‑line diagrams, and collaborate daily with multi‑disciplinary teams across Kimley‑Horn offices. They will also prepare specifications, cost estimates, and proposals to grow the electrical engineering service area, and mentor junior staff to expand the Renewable Energy practice. • Lead design of renewable generation, energy storage, EV charging, building electrical, and battery storage systems. • Create electrical layouts, schematics, block diagrams, calculations, one‑line diagrams, and design reports. • Prepare project specifications, construction cost estimates, and proposals to expand service areas. • Collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams across Kimley‑Horn offices. • Mentor and train junior engineers to grow the Renewable Energy practice.

What You Bring

Kimley‑Horn’s Delray Beach, Florida office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with six or more years of experience to join the Renewable Energy team. The role is on‑site, not remote, and involves working on a variety of electrical projects related to renewable generation, energy storage, EV charging, and building systems. Candidates must have at least five years of electrical engineering experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Professional Engineering license (or be able to obtain one within 12 months). A solid understanding of the NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI standards, willingness to travel for site visits, and ability to work and mentor in a team environment are required. Preferred experience includes utility‑scale PV, wind, HVAC, microgrid, data‑center design, and engineering project management. Proficiency with AutoCAD, power‑system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP), transient‑study software (PSCAD, EMTP‑RV), lighting design tools (AGI32), and programming in Python or MATLAB is a plus. • Minimum 5+ years of electrical engineering experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license or obtain it within 12 months. • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards; willingness to travel for site visits. • Preferred experience with utility‑scale PV, wind, MEP, HVAC, microgrid, substation, or data‑center design. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, power‑system analysis (SKM, ETAP), transient studies (PSCAD, EMTP‑RV), lighting design (AGI32), and programming (Python/MATLAB).
