Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

You will be part of an international design and engineering team focused on power transformer projects worldwide. Your role involves influencing specifications at tender stages, preparing design quotations, creating customer and manufacturing documentation, and coordinating activities across Hitachi’s global factory network. You will also participate in internal design reviews, ensure compliance with standards and regulations, and uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity. • Influence transformer specifications during tender and pre‑tender stages through conceptual discussions. • Prepare electrical design quotations that meet factory limitations, guidelines, and IEEE/IEC/IS standards. • Develop customer and manufacturing documents, including bills of materials, according to project schedules. • Coordinate design activities across Hitachi’s worldwide factory network. • Participate in internal design concept reviews and ensure compliance with external and internal regulations. • Follow IS, IEC, IEEE, and Canadian standards and use simulation or software tools where applicable.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and has 2–4 years of experience in electrical design for oil‑filled, dry, or power transformer manufacturing, though more experience will also be considered. A solid understanding of transformer electrical design, thermal, dielectric, short‑circuit, acoustic performance, mechanics, and relevant IS/IEC/IEEE/Canadian standards is required. Experience with simulation or software development, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong English communication skills are also essential. • Collaborate with technical teams globally, demonstrating strong networking and team‑building skills. • Apply knowledge of transformer electrical design, thermal, dielectric, short‑circuit, acoustic performance, and mechanics. • Utilize Microsoft Office suite effectively and communicate proficiently in spoken and written English.
