About the Role
The Transportation Drainage Coordinator/EIT will work on roadway and highway design, preparing hydrology and hydraulics analyses, CAD drawings, storm‑drain layouts, and related plans, while collaborating with project engineers, producing drainage reports, floodplain mapping, and assisting with technical documentation. • Participate in design teams for roadway and highway projects, applying local, HEC, or USACE standards for hydrology and hydraulics. • Create CAD drawings (Civil 3D, MicroStation) for storm drain layouts, ditch and channel designs, interchange layouts, and roadway drainage. • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects of varying size and complexity. • Produce drainage reports, plan and profile drawings, temporary erosion control plans, site preparation plans, and floodplain mapping and permitting documents. • Assist in detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects, handling alignment, profile, geometry, drainage, and construction estimates. • Support the development and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations.
What You Bring
Preferred qualifications include an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate, proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, and experience with highways and roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Infraworks, and Civil3D. Candidates without an EIT will start in a Design Coordinator role and are expected to obtain the EIT for career progression. Required qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and a commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (preferred) and demonstrate proficiency with MicroStation/AutoCAD and highways engineering software. • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. • Demonstrate commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned and inclusive culture.
