About the Role
The Roadway Engineer supports the engineering development of urban and rural highway projects under the direction of a Project Manager, collaborating with design, right‑of‑way, and pre‑construction teams from feasibility through construction, and may assume some project‑management duties. This role prepares detailed designs, oversees CAD staff, and interacts with clients as needed. • Serve under a Project Manager on engineering development of urban and rural highway projects. • Support roadway designs and plan development per guidelines, standards, and specifications. • Oversee CAD Designers and possibly other EITs. • Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects. • Collaborate with Right‑of‑Way and pre‑construction staff. • Participate from site feasibility analysis through final design and construction phases. • Assume project‑management duties and interact with clients as needed. • Conduct field reviews, address plan discrepancies, and evaluate acquisition impacts. • Review title reports, legal descriptions, and prepare ROW exhibits. • Coordinate with drainage, utilities, and environmental stakeholders.

What You Bring
• Minimum 3 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design and right‑of‑way. • Proficiency in QA/QC of roadway and ROW plans; knowledge of TDOT’s Plan Development. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) for the job location. • Hands‑on experience with highway CAD software (Bentley ConceptStation, OpenRoads Designer, Autodesk InfraWorks, Civil3D). • Experience in urban/rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, and transportation planning. • Strong MS Office, communication, and organizational skills.
