About the Role

The Quality Manager will lead, document, monitor, and analyze the quality system on medium to large construction projects, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented. The position involves collaboration with project managers, superintendents, and third‑party agencies while mentoring field and project engineers. • Lead Mortenson’s quality system on medium to large projects. • Implement the Quality Management Plan from initiation to final acceptance. • Establish and oversee quality control initiatives and corrective actions. • Review project plans for quality requirements. • Manage quality events, punch lists, and Non‑Conformance Notices. • Resolve issues independently or with guidance from Project Manager or Superintendent. • Oversee third‑party design and testing agencies. • Manage subcontracts and suppliers, including quality program reviews. • Coach and mentor field and project engineers and support career development.

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to serve Phoenix, Denver, and Salt Lake City offices. The role requires interacting with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, maintaining flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, and confidentiality. The manager must anticipate problems, devise solutions, and communicate effectively with strong attention to detail. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in a related engineering or construction discipline and have at least three years of experience managing project quality systems. Required skills include detailed organization, knowledge of construction law, proficiency with Excel and Primavera Unifier, and familiarity with quality frameworks such as ISO 9000, Lean, or Baldridge. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or related field. • Minimum three years’ experience leading a project’s quality system in design, engineering, or construction. • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize multiple project tasks. • Basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Primavera Unifier. • Knowledge of quality systems such as Malcolm Baldridge, ISO 9000, Lean, Kaizen, Army Corps of Engineers, or Mortenson’s Quality System. • Experience with issue management and work inspection. • Completed basic project management and supervision training. • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel over 50% of time among Phoenix, Denver, and Salt Lake City.
